The Catholic School’s theme for the 2020/2021 school year is “Walk with Jesus our Living Hope”.
At a time where living in community may require staying apart, where being present to and with others may involve masking part of our identity, and where looking after certain members of our family may necessitate not being near them, our relationship with Jesus Christ becomes more important than ever.
This year’s theme reminds us, especially during difficult times, to never lose hold of the two main ropes of life - hope and faith. Maintaining a firm grip on both will assist us in our understanding that God never gives us more than we can handle and that He will provide each of us with the graces and strengths necessary to manage life’s trials and tribulations.
Even in the midst of all of the challenges, Notre Dame continues to operate very effectively with strict safety protocols and the cooperation and support of all stakeholder groups, most notably staff, students and parents. As a result, our students have continued to excel academically and participate successfully, when and where possible, in modified extra-curricular activities. We continue to look to the promise of a healthier and safer future as we complete the final phase of our school building project, namely our athletic field.
At Notre Dame our staff seems to understand that every job is a self-portrait of the person who did it. And, simply put, they have all made a deliberate choice to sign their work with pride.
Notre Dame is and always will be rooted in that which endures the test of time...the pursuit of excellence in a Catholic Christian setting.
Please take the time to enjoy the many aspects of our Virtual Open House. I look forward to working with many of you and especially your children in the years to come.
In this time of uncertainty let’s be steadfast in our efforts to keep ourselves and others as safe as possible. Let’s continue to be wise in our thoughts, words, and actions, and always mindful that Jesus, our Lord and Saviour, is watching over us and, in times where our challenges seem greatest, walking with us.
